The City Solicitor and the Law Office:

Approves contracts,
Gives legal advice and furnish written opinions when so requested by the Mayor, City Council, or other City Department, Board or Commission,
Prosecutes or defends all cases and proceedings to which the City is a party,
Prepares or approves all deeds or other legal instruments relating to the City,
Considers claims against the City and makes recommendation for their resolution,
Generally handle all legal affairs pertaining to the City,
Provide general oversight of all legal matters of the City of Everett.
