Mayor DeMaria is pleased to announce that recycling bins are now available for all residents of Everett.
The City of Everett received a $16,500 grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection to purchase the recycling bins through the Sustainable Materials Recovery Program.
The MassDEP Sustainable Materials Recovery Program (SMRP) Municipal Grants offer funding to cities, towns and regional entities as well as certain non-profit organizations that provide services to them for recycling, composting, reuse and source reduction activities that will increase diversion of municipal solid waste and household hazardous waste from disposal.
Mayor DeMaria stated, “With landfill space quickly filling up, it is critical for local governments to reduce waste. I want to thank the Baker administration, and Commissioner Suuberg for their support of recycling, reuse and source reduction. This not only takes material out of the waste stream, and out of the environment, but it reduces our costs.”
